After an eight-year hiatus during which he was arrested for drug possession and DUI, suffered injuries in a car crash, and checked into rehab, Grammy-winning soul stirrer D'Angelo is recording his third studio album. The still-untitled disc will be released by RCA/SonyBMG this fall and will feature collaborations with John Mayer and Raphael Saadiq, who co-produced D'Angelo's 2000 hit "Untitled (How Does It Feel). John Mayerのファンサイトからの情報。ソースは「Entertainment Weekly」が挙げられていますが、今のところサイト上に情報は無し。発売するレーベルと時期が記されているだけにちょっと信憑性があります。

数年前にThe Rootsの?uestloveが「今D'Angeloの3rdアルバムを一緒に作ってる」みたいなこと言ってたような記憶があります。あれがリリースされるのかな？作り直したのかな？

今そのインタビューを探しましたが、たしかOkayPlayersのサイトに載ってたはずなんですけど、サイトリニューアルで大元のソースが行方不明になっています。以下、孫引きです。

多分2004年頃のインタビュー。要するに「トラックはできてる。詩が出来るまでFunkadelic聴いて予習しとけ」ということですか（ちょっと意訳し過ぎ）。

■ ネオ・ソウルを代表する天才ミュージシャン、D'ANGELOが2009年のリリースに向けてニュー・アルバムのレコーディングを開始（bounce）

＜billboard.com＞の報道によると、新作はJ・レコーズから2009年初頭にリリースを予定。すでにラファエル・サディークと共にレコーディングを行なっており、この先ジョン・メイヤーとのコラボレーション曲も制作する計画だという。また、アルバムからの先行シングルは2008年末にリリースされる模様だ。
