■ D'Angelo 'Smiles Again' With New Single（singersroom.com）

"Brown Sugar" singer D'Angelo has released a revamped version of his 1996 recording "I Found My Smile Again" as a new buzz single this week.

元々は1996年に「Space Jam」というマイケル・ジョーダンが主演した映画のサントラに提供された楽曲。元曲は下のYouTubeで聴けます。

日本のiTunesでも配信がスタートしたので、久しぶりにiTunesで購入しました（
→ Link - iTunesが起動します）「iTunes Plus」とかいうDRM無しの高音質のフォーマットで、ビットレートは256kbps。

以前のサントラのバージョンは打ち込みでしたが、今回の新録は「VooDoo」の時のようなラフな生のサウンド。新たな驚きのようなものは何も無し。何も変わっていません。以前?uestloveさんがレコーディング中の新曲「Really Love」
をリークしたことがありましたが、あの曲の雰囲気とも全く違う。

D'angeloのMySpaceを見ると、下の記述がありました。

I glowingly talked about the buzz single "I Found My Smile," which has been getting airplay this week, as programmers—long anticipating new material from the brilliant musician—have taken to the song. The song can also be heard on XM Radio and his MySpace page (www.myspace.com/dangelo). What I love about "…Smile" is D'Angelo's ability to channel both of his mentors, Prince and Marvin Gaye, to create a feel-good track that should hopefully keep us fans fulfilled until his new album arrives at the beginning of 2009. The single will be released digitally on September 30, 2008.
