■ Aphex Twin album / Warp Records reveals Electronic pioneer's new record is on the way（BBC）

Steve Beckett, founder of Aphex’s parent label Warp Records, exclusively said: “We’re definitely going to be putting out a new album by him. Hopefully it will be this year, if I can prise it out of his hands. It’s definitely on its way.”

今年3月の記事です。WarpのレーベルオーナーSteve Beckettが「我々は間違いなく彼のニューアルバムをリリースする、うまくいけば年内に出るだろう」と語っています。Warp20周年にあわせたRDJの粋な計らいなのでしょうか。

とはいうものの、Steve Beckett自身、一音もニューアルバムの音を聞いていないし、ニューアルバムについて何も知らないそうです。

“I don’t know a single note or anything about it, Basically I find out what it sounds like when we go into the mastering room and he puts it - well how it used to be, he'll put the DAT player in and there it’ll be - so that’s the first time I’ll hear it. Then I’ll go onto my knees and thank him and then we’ll put it out.“

基本的に、自分たちがマスタリングスタジオに出向いて、マスタリングが終了した完成品のDATをリチャードに聴かせてもらうそうで、それが初聴になるんだとか。

2006年にAFX名義の『Analord』『Chosen Lords』がありますが、Aphex Twinとしては『Drukqs』が2001年ですから、8年ぶりくらい。もう今後はアルバムをリリースしない、なんて発言もありました。どうせ誰も信じてません。

上の動画は、2007年のAphex TwinのDJプレイの一部を録画したもので、どう聴いてもAphex Twinの曲っぽいけどまだリリースされていない曲が聴けます。Analordっぽい音です。
