■ XL Recordings Compiles Early 1990s Club Hits（Pitchfolk）

XL Recordings has dug into its vaults for the release of a compilation called XL Recordings: The First Chapters. The compilation collects dance singles and remixes the label released between 1990 and 1995, including tracks from the Prodigy, SL2, Kicks Like a Mule, and Awesome 3.

曲目は下の通り。

• Kicks Like a Mule: "The Bouncer (Housequake Mix)"

• Liquid: "Sweet Harmony (Original Mix)"
• SL2: "On a Ragga Tip (Original 12" Mix)"
• Awesome 3: "Don't Go (Kicks Like a Mule Mix)"
• Dance Conspiracy: "Dub War (Chapter One)"
• Jonny L: "The Ansaphone"

ほとんど好きな曲…。「Everybody in the Place」はアルバムバージョンよりこっちのバージョンのほうがかっこいいんですよ。「Charly」はこのミックスよりもアルバムバージョンよりもオリジナルミックスが一番。途中レイブっぽいリフが入るのがいい。

XL Recordingsといえば、レイブ全盛期に「The First Chapter」「The Second Chapter」「The Third Chapter」「The Fourth Chapter」「The Fifth Chapter」というタイトルのレーベルコンピレーション盤のシリーズがありました（日本盤は全てAVEXから）。

今回のものは「The First Chapters」と「s」が付いていて、内容もシリーズからのダイジェストのような内容。実に紛らわしい。が、選曲は完璧。

今はやはりこの辺の採掘が盛んなようで、なんとAltern8「Full On .. Mask Hysteria」が再発されるそうです。
